Politics is a dish best served lukewarm

Lets get our facts right, please

Sean Hannity had Newt Gingrich in his show tonight to discuss the “radical, socialistic agenda” that President Obama in enacting. Gingrich is an apparent history buff, who appeared to skip the few chapters on socialism and marxism. HeĀ touted his new book on Hannity,”To Save America: stopping Obama’s secular-socialistic machine.” But lets get the facts straight, Newt, if Obama was a socialist, why are the financial measurers only temporary, with room for the next administration to change the laws? If he were a socialist, then how does mandating people to buy private health care qualify as socialistic? Finally, if Obama were a socialist, then why did he send 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan? Remember that billions of dollars are being poured into private corporations. Maybe the word corporatist is a better way to describe the president.

Chris Matthews tonight blamed “unbridled capitalism” for the failure of the Gulf oil spill. But is it really capitalism that caused the oil well blowout? Was it capitalism that caused B.P. to not correctly check the mechanisms? P.D.B.S.L. would like to set the record straight; a failure of capitalism didn’t cause the B.P. oil spill. Greedy B.P. executives who set a bad precedent to their employees, where they value doing the job quick instead of doing it right created a negative working environment. Laissez faire working environments (which is different from the ideology) are never a good idea. They produce poor workers and promote sloth, as opposed to a working environment where safety and productivity create a good company and employees. Capitalism, like anything in life, has the the potential for abuse. The fundamental ideology that capitalism produces jobs and freedom, is essential for America to function properly. There doesn’t need to be a fundamental change in capitalism with regards to the way businesses operate. There needs to be a fundamental change with the men and women managing the companies and firms that are setting a poor precedent to the world.

Oh… Los Angeles Times

If you want to read one of the most biased articles in recent memory, here you go. For the record, P.D.B.S.L. could care less about Nancy Pelosi, but how about having an article that is factual and does not proudly state that she will be reelected.

Now that she’s not a lesbian, can we move on?

For those who are dead set on causing as much havoc for Elena Kagan, their ammunition just got a little lighter today. Contrary to some, Kagan is not gay, although some would like to believe that to be the case. The issue isn’t her sexual orientation, the issue is whether she will uphold the constitution. It seems that any little aspect about her will be used in a negative connotation.

Dissension turns ugly

Things got out of hand in a hurry today when Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks was head-butted at Uppsala University during a lecture. Controversy has surrounded Vilks ever since he drew a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed as a dog in 2007. 15 people shouted and tried to interrupt the lecture, two people were detained. In 2007, a group linked to al-Qaeda in Iraq offered a $100,000 reward for killing Vilks, and a 50% bonus if he was “slaughtered like a lamb” by having his throat cut. It is a sad day when people are threatened because of their speech expression.
